Responsibilities

Summary 

The Maintenance Mechanics troubleshoot, repair, install and adjust industrial production and processing equipment.   

 

Essential Functions 

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble 
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to remove defective parts or to make repairs. 
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections 
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges 
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices 
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery 
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications 
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts; and sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary 
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines 
  • Repairs electrical equipment. Replacing like equipment as dined in NAC. 
  • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems 
  • Will participate and train with the HazMat team.  

Qualifications

Travel/On-Call Requirements:  Not required for this position.

 

Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)

  • Minimum of 2 years of Food plant experience of 2 years of Industrial Maintenance experience or a combination of both equal to 2 years

 

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • five years of industrial mechanical experience
  • five years of industrial mechanical experience
  • PLC and Frequency drive knowledge is preferred but not required
  • One year certificate or degree in maintenance related field
  • Knowledge of 3-phase and Control voltage wiring
  • Understanding of a Preventive Maintenance program
  • Experience performing Sanitary Welding (Food Contact surface)
  • Experience with plumbing, Pro-press and threaded
  • Currently have a class 2B boiler license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ammonia refrigeration knowledge is preferred but not required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of food manufacturing environment safety requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and conveying systems. 

Skills

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong Time Management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.

Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Ability to read and  interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, diagrams and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools including but not limited to pipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments

 

Work environment:

While performing the duties of the job employees will be exposed to warm humid environments as well as short term exposure to freezing temperatures.

 

Work Ability Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. 

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch

The employee lifts and carries  objects up to 5 lbs regularly, up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally

Pay Range

USD $24.51 - USD $37.00 /Hr.
